- Oliver, an orphan, is intelligent and kind, but he is not afraid to stand up for himself when the situation calls for it. He longs for a family and escapes to London to try to make his fortune – though he has no idea what adventures await him there! - Fagin recruits, trains, and manages a gang of child-thieves. Though he claims he cares for each of his children, providing them food and shelter and characteristically calling them “my dear,” he’s really only concerned with the money these young thieves bring in. - Fagin's brightest pupil , The Artful Dodger, a.k.a. Jack Dawkins, is one of the most famous characters in literature. He is charming, upbeat, and charismatic. Though Dodger works for Fagin as a thief, he is the first person to show Oliver real kindness and gives him a place to belong. - Bill Sikes is a quintessential villain. He is mean, selfish, and ruthless, and he always looks out for number one. He bullies everyone around him, especially Nancy, and is paranoid, always afraid that people will betray him. Gender: male Age: 30 to 45 *Sings: My Name, It's a Fine Life
- 23 years old - a graduate of Fagin's academy, and Bill's doxy. Nancy is an adventurous young lady with a heart of gold who has fallen in with the wrong crowd. She is vivacious and kind, the life of the party, and she immediately takes Oliver under her wing. Unfortunately, she is involved with Bill Sikes, who is a troublesome person. - A 15 year old lass in Fagin's establishment. Bet is a friend of Nancy’s who shares her spirited nature and sense of adventure. Like Nancy, Bet has a kind heart but has fallen upon hard times Gender: female Age: 14 to 18 *Sings: It's a Fine Life, I’d Do Anything
- A large and pompous Beadle of the workhouse. Mr. Bumble runs the workhouse where Oliver finds himself in the beginning of the show. - A sharp-tongued, domineering widow - the Workhouse Mistress. Widow Corney runs the workhouse along with Mr. Bumble. She is cold and calculating, like Mr. Bumble, and only cares that the work gets done and puts money in her pocket. Gender: female Age: 40 to 55 *Sings: Oliver!, I Shall Scream
- Mr. Brownlow is a sweet man who takes Oliver in, even after Oliver has picked his pocket. Oliver is familiar to Mr. Brownlow immediately, even though he has no idea that Oliver is his grandchild. Gender: male Age: 55 to 70 (non singing)
- Mr. Sowerberry is the undertaker who purchases Oliver from Mr. Bumble. He is a callous man who does not treat Oliver much better than Mr. Bumble. Gender: male Age: 45 to 60 *Sings small part: That's your Funeral
- Mrs. Sowerberry gives Oliver scraps left for the dog to eat. She, like her husband, does not care at all for Oliver’s well-being and only wants him to work. Gender: female Age: 45 to 60 *Sings small part: That's your Funeral
- Charlotte works for the Sowerberrys. She is kinder to Oliver than the others in the Sowerberry home, but not by much. Gender: female Age: 18 to 25 (non singing)
- Noah Claypole works for the Sowerberrys. He is a mean, nasty person who insults Oliver’s mother on purpose to upset him. Gender: male Age: 18 to 25 (non singing)
- A Doctor. Gender: male Age: 30 to 50 (non singing)
- Mrs. Bedwin is Mr. Brownlow’s kindhearted housekeeper. Gender: female Age: 45 to 60 *Sings: Where is love reprise

These are the dates of our rehearsal schedule. Saturdays & Sundays between 2-6, Mon & Thurs from 6pm-8pm. Please check your calendar and check any dates when you cannot attend a rehearsal, so we can schedule rehearsals for specific scenes to minimize conflicts.

Performances
Sun May 25 is the mandatory meeting, followed by vocal rehearsals/dance.
Tech/Dress Rehearsal Week begins Fri July 24 @6pm, Sat. July 25 @10am, Sun. July 27 @2pm, and Mon-Thurs @6pm
These are mandatory, but we may double cast some/all roles, which means you may not be required at every tech/dress rehearsal.
SHOWS: Aug 1, 2, 3, 8, 9, 10. Please be prepared to keep Aug 15, 16, 17 open if we need to add more shows

Preparation:
I understand that I must come prepared to sing 16-32 measures of a song (aprox 1-2 minutes) from OLIVER for the character you are auditioning for. We will also have a brief dance audition and read scenes from the script. There will be an optional audition prep day, on Saturday May 3 from 2pm-6pm if you'd like to prepare more. This is highly recommended, as Cockney accents will be needed for lead roles.
Monologue Prep:
Please prepare to cold-read a scene from Oliver for the character you are auditioning for. There will be an audition prep day Sat May 3rd 2pm-6pm where these scenes will be available. This is highly recommended for all ages. If you need special accommodations, please email us at BeaconPATX@gmail.com to review the scenes ahead of time. Cockney accents are a must for the leads.

Costume Size:
Please select your costume size. Your costumes will be provided for you, and will remain the property of Victory Theatre Group. If you are between sizes, please choose the larger size.
Production Fee:
By filling out this audition form, I understand that there is a non-refundable production fee of $200/child (discounted $150 for Beacon Students), $100/adults, if I am cast in the show, that helps cover the production costs and licensing.
Update Info:
I understand I must accept the Band App and join the Facebook group to keep up to date on information pertaining to the production. (Please do this before you leave auditions). Failure to do so, may result in being removed from the production.
Video/Photo Release:
I authorize Beacon Performing Arts, and those acting pursuant to its authority, to (1) record my participation and appearance on videotape, audiotape, film, photography or an other medium; (2) Use my name, likeness, voice and/or biographical material in connection thereto; (3) Exhibit or distribute such material in whole or in part without restrictions or limitations for any publicity or promotional purpose which Beacon, and those acting in pursuant to its authority, deem appropriate.
