- An aspiring singer/songwriter going from schoolgirl to superstar. An unassuming, appealing, funny and vulnerable girl from a Jewish family in Brooklyn. Seeking powerful, distinctive voice that can replicate Carole King’s. Needs to convincingly act as if she is playing the piano, making piano skills necessary. Character Age Range: 16–late 20s. Vocal Range: Mezzo-Soprano (G3–E5)
- Carole’s boyfriend, songwriting partner and eventual husband. Magnetic personality, appealing, passionate, ambitious and sympathetic. Seeking an actor with a wide range of emotions and is a strong singer. Character Age Range: 18–30s Vocal Range: Baritone (B2–A4)
- Carole’s best friend and fellow songwriter. She is sophisticated, smart, chic, likable, with a quick wit and comic timing. She and Barry Mann form the other half of the famous songwriting duo who are both rivals and friends to Carole and Gerry. Seeking a strong singer who can belt. Character Age Range: 18–30s Vocal Range: Mezzo-Soprano (E3–E5)
- Cynthia’s songwriting partner (and eventual husband). He is good natured, appealing, endearing and a hypochondriac. Seeking a strong comedic actor with a strong voice. Character Age Range: 18–30s. Vocal Range: Tenor (C3–A4)
- An influential music publisher and producer. Smart, authoritative, and a mentor to the young songwriters. Seeking a strong actor. Mostly speaking role; occasionally joins ensemble. Character Age Range: 30s–50s. Vocal Range: Baritone (A2–C4)
- Carole’s strong-willed, practical, Jewish mother. A realist who’s both protective and proud of her daughter. Provides humor and grounded wisdom. Mostly speaking role; occasionally joins ensemble. Character Age Range: 40s–60s. Vocal Range: Alto (G3–C5)
- Smooth male soul / R&B group
- Glamorous girl soul group
- Will perform as ensemble and these characters: Little Eva (age 16, Soul / pop / R&B singer), Righteous Brothers (Singing duo), Janell Woods (A pop singer in the 1960s), Lou Adler (record and film producer), Neil Sadaka, Bobby Vee, Marilyn Wald, Secretaries, friends, Various other (fictional) ensemble roles like music executives, recording artists, stagehands, concert goers, announcer.

Rehearsals: Beginning the week of May 11 (M-Th evenings 6pm - 9pm, Sat afternoon 1pm - 4pm); Rehearsal schedule will vary based on role and is subject to change.
Location: Performances and Tech Rehearsals at the McGrath Family Performing Arts Center in Wilmette. Rehearsals at West Ridge Center in Highland Park, IL.

Your audition / call-back may be recorded for publicity usage. Costume Measurements, rehearsal schedules and scripts will be handed out at the first rehearsal All cast members are responsible for their own shoes and make-up supplies I have read and fully understand the releases and hold harmless waiver as well as the publicity and cast member requirements and I understand my signature is required to take part in Highland Park Players and Park District programs.
Publicity Release:
I assign & grant Highland Park Players & anyone authorized by Highland Park Players, the unrestricted right to use my likeness in any & all present or future media in perpetuity, in connection with, directly or indirectly, the publicity, promotion & use in any legal manner whatsoever of this production. I further agree that Highland Park Players shall be the sole & exclusive owner of all of the expressions of my likeness as they may be incorporated into media of any type in connection with Highland Park Players products & services such as Facebook, YouTube, etc. I understand & acknowledge that I have no right to inspect and/or approve Highland Park Players’ use of my likeness or the materials in which my likeness may be utilized in connection with Highland Park Players products & services.
Hold Harmless:
As a participant in the program, I recognize & acknowledge that there are certain risks of physical injury & I agree to assume the full risk of any injuries, damages or losses which I may sustain as a result of participating in any & all activities connected with or associated with such program. I agree to waive & relinquish all claims I may have as a result of participating in the program against the HPP & Park District & its officers, agents, servants & employees. I do hereby fully release & discharge the Park District & its officers, agents, servants & employees from any & all claims from injuries, damages or losses which I may have or which may accrue to me on account of my participation in the program. I further agree to indemnify & hold harmless & defend the Park District & its officers, agents, servants, & employees from any & all claims resulting from injuries, damages & losses sustained by me & arising out of, connected with, or in any way associated with the activities of the program.
