Theater for Charity (TFC) is a community driven organization. Our mission is to bring people together through theater while giving back to the community. TFC is proud to share exciting milestones as we prepare for our fifth production since relaunching in 2023. The Prom is a heartfelt musical about inclusion, acceptance, and standing up for what’s right. When a small-town high school student is banned from bringing her girlfriend to prom, a group of eccentric Broadway actors swoop in to help—bringing plenty of humor, heart, and a little chaos along the way.
With music by Matthew Sklar, lyrics by Chad Beguelin, and a book by Bob Martin and Chad Beguelin, the show blends catchy songs with powerful storytelling and celebrates love, identity, and the courage to be yourself.
This production is especially meaningful for Theater for Charity, as all profits from The Prom will benefit Youth Outlook, an organization that supports LGBTQ+ youth in Illinois and promotes a safe, inclusive community for all. (https://youth-outlook.org/ )

Actors cast as Emma and Alyssa must be comfortable with a same-sex kiss, which is central to the story. Theater for Charity has engaged an Intimacy Coach to ensure the scene is handled professionally and respectfully, with guidance and support for the actors throughout.
Callbacks will be held on July 30th as needed. If you are not invited for a callback, it does not mean you are not cast.

We will accept video submissions until July 26th at 630PM. Please send all submissions using theater forms as noted and you will be required to sign up for the waiting list slot link. Please note any person auditioning for a lead role must be present in person at callbacks.
Costumes
There is no cost to participate in TFC productions. The Prom is set in “present day,” so actors may be asked to wear their own school/every day-appropriate clothing as needed. We’ll also host a fun “prom costume” night, where cast members can choose from a selection of dresses and outfits—or even bring in their own prom attire to share or wear! TFC will provide any additional costume pieces that are not readily available and are character specific.
Come to the audition ready for fun! We want to see the very best of you and our goals is to make you comfortable so that you can shine! Please feel free to reach out to ask any questions – call 630.624.5064 or email lhodak@theaterforcharity.com
