General 2020 Season Auditions for Journey North Opera and Mixed Precipitation. 

AUDITIONS ARE FULL (or nearly full, pending potential cancellations) Please message us to get on the waiting list. (Or send us a resume, headshot, and video) We'll do our best to see everyone!

We are casting classical singers and musical stage performers for our 2020 projects. We encourage two contrasting pieces, all ages, abilities and voice types welcome. Accompanist provided.

Saturday, February 1st (10am-4pm) at St. Timothy Lutheran Church, 1465 Victoria Street N., St. Paul

Sunday, February 2nd (1pm-6pm) at St. Timothy Lutheran Church, 1465 Victoria Street N., St. Paul 

Thursday, February 6th (6:30-9:30) at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church, 1660 County B Road W, Roseville 

Mixed Precipitation is casting six singers for the 12th annual Picnic Operetta, Iphigénie in the Valley, based on Christoph Willibald Gluck’s 1773 French opera Iphigénie en Aulide. Our unique version will also feature the music of Dolly Parton. Music Director Gary Ruschman, and Stage Direction by Jacob Miller and Scotty Reynolds

We are casting for the following roles: Iphigenie (soprano), Clytemnestra (mezzo), Agamemnon (baritone), Achilles (tenor), Diana (soprano), Calchas (bass), and three roles for youth performers. 

Rehearsals begin July 6th, evenings Monday through Thursdays and 10am - 4pm on Saturdays through August 8th. There are 14 total performances between August 9th and September 20th on weekend afternoons.  The Picnic Operetta is performed outdoors in community gardens, orchards, and vineyards throughout the metro.

CALLBACKS for Iphigénie in the Valley are on Sunday, February 9th starting at 5:00 at St. Timothy Lutheran Church.  

Journey North Opera Company (JNOC) is casting six singers for the Proving Up by Missy Mazzoli, October 2-4 at Minsky Theater in NE Minneapolis as well as for our company of singers for OperaTease, our bi-monthly opera-meets-circus cabaret series in collaboration with Minnsky Theatre, and our school and elder care outreach programs. Directed by Amanda Carlson, Music Director Brian Dowdy.

Roles needed for Proving Up:

  • Miles Zegner - Tenor, range: E3 - Bb4 (D5 falsetto)

  • Mr. Johannes “Pa” Zegner - Baritone, range: G#2 - A#4

  • Mrs. Johannes “Ma” Zegner - Soprano, range: C#4 - C#6

  • Littler Zegner Daughter - Soprano, range: G#3 - C#6

  • Taller Zegner Daughter - Mezzo, range: G#3 - G5

  • The Sodbuster - Bass-baritone, range: D2 - F#4 (Bb4 falsetto)

  • Peter Zegner - Non-singing role (separate auditions to be held)

Rehearsals for Proving Up will begin in late August 2020; Saturday mornings and weekday evenings. Tech week is September 27-30. Performances are fully staged with a 13-piece orchestra.

WHAT TO PREPARE: Please prepare two contrasting pieces that show off your musical and dramatic range. We encourage classical music audition selections in English and French. 16 bars of a country tune is also helpful. 

All ages and levels of experience are welcome.
