SEEKING

Equity and Non-Equity actors for roles in THE WIZARD OF OZ (see breakdown).

No roles will be understudied.


SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS

Please sign up for an audition time on through theatre forms link. Please prepare 32 bars of a musical theatre song (accompanist provided, bring sheet music) that is in the style of the show. Also please prepare a monologue of your choosing.

BREAKDOWN

THE WIZARD OF OZ

Seeking:

DOROTHY GALE (Female Identifying, 12-20, Any Ethnicity, Mezzo-Soprano) Actor to play 14-17. A farm girl and a dreamer. She is naïve but knows how to stand up for herself and her friends. A great mover/dancer with a deep emotional well and a contagious, joyous spirit.

AUNT EM (Female Identifying, 30s-40s, Any Ethnicity) Honest and hardworking. She cares deeply for her family. Doubles as Glinda.

UNCLE HENRY (Male Identifying, 40s-50s, Any Ethnicity, Bari-tenor) A farm owner who is honest, hardworking, and acerbic, but kind. He cares deeply for his family. Doubles as The Guard. He is daffy, quirky, and charming. Has great comedic timing.

PROFESSOR MARVEL (Male Identifying, 40s-50s, Any Ethnicity) A rogue with a big heart. Skilled comedian. Doubles as The Wizard of Oz a heartfelt buffoon- comedic and charming.

LION (Male Identifying, 30s-40s, Any ethnicity, Bari-Tenor) He seems jumpy, jittery, and blubbering but is actually quite brave deep down. Comic with bravado and charm. Doubles as Zeke a farmhand.

SCARECROW (Male Identifying, 30s, Any Ethnicity, Bari-Tenor) Singer Dancer with a heart of gold and comic wit. Floppy and insecure but is actually quite clever deep down. Doubles as Hunk a farmhand.

TIN MAN (Male Identifying, 30s, any Ethnicity, Tenor) Sweet and romantic, a lovely crooner and fantastic mover or dancer. Doubles as Hickory a farmhand.

WICKED WITCH (Female Identifying, 30s-40s, Any Ethnicity) Sinister, power hungry and cruel. She is hiding a bounty of grief. Doubles as Miss Gulch a shallow and stubborn woman. Has great language skills and an acerbic wit.

TOTO (Any Gender, 20s-30s, Any Ethnicity) This performer will be seen by the audience and will be the puppeteer for Toto. Can be a non-singing role.

ENSEMBLE (Any Gender, 15-40s, Any Ethnicity) Seeking up to 6 performers for the parts as Emerald City Citizens and doubling as Crows, Trees, Jitterbugs, and Winkies.

MUNCHKIN ENSEMBLE (Any Gender, 8-14, Any Ethnicity) Seeking up to 15 performers for the parts in Munchkin land and doubling as Poppies/Snowman, Emerald City citizens, and Monkeys.
