Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Musical

General Audition Information

Auditions will be held in person in the John H. Potter Theater at the Phipps Center for the Arts located at 109 Locust St. Hudson, WI 54016.

This audition is open to performers in grades 8-12.

Audition Details

Auditions will be held in 50-minute time slots on Monday, December 2 and Tuesday, December 3 from 6:00-9:00 PM. More audition slots have been added on Thursday, December 5 from 6:00-6:50 PM and 6:50-7:40 PM. Those auditioning on Thursday may be asked to stay for callbacks from 7:30-9:00 PM.

Those auditioning will be asked to perform one monologue from the show, 16-32 bars of a song of your choice, and a dance combination (taught at the audition). The selected monologues can be found here. Actors can bring sheet music for our audition accompanist or bring a phone with a track on it.

If needed, callbacks will be held on Thursday, December 5 from 7:30-9:00 PM in the John H. Potter Theater at the Phipps.

If you are unable to attend in-person auditions, please submit a video audition consisting of: one monologue from the show (found here), 16-32 bars of a song of your choice, and the dance combination (video here). Please slate your name at the top of your video audition. Example: "Hi, my name is Jo Smith." Please also label your video file with your first and last name. Example: Jo_Smith_Audition. Upload the video along with your headshot and resume to this link: Diary of a Wimpy Kid Virtual Auditions.

What to Bring

You won't need to bring anything if you've already submitted your audition form!
If you haven't submitted your audition form before the audition, please bring a resume and headshot.

About the Show

Middle school, ugh. It’s the worst. But Greg is determined not to be at the bottom of the popularity chart. He’ll leave that to his weird neighbor, Fregley. Or maybe Greg’s best friend, Rowley Jefferson. But it’s not going to be Greg -- no way.

Scheduling Information

Rehearsals Begin: Tuesday, December 17

Rehearsals will be held Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, & Friday from 6:00-9:00 PM and Saturday (time TBD).

Tech Week Begins: Saturday, February 8

Performances: February 14–March 2, 2025
Fridays at 7:00 PM | Saturdays at 11:00 AM & 3:00 PM | Sundays at 2:00 PM
Thursday, February 20 & Thursday, February 27 at 9:30 AM

COVID Policy

Masks are optional during auditions and rehearsals. Tech rehearsals and performances will be unmasked.

Proof of vaccination is no longer required.
