Making an Audition Video on Windows

There are many ways to record a video with Windows 10 PC, but we're going to focus on a way that will work for most Windows users. This assumes that you have a Windows 10 computer with a webcam. The webcam may be built-in or an external device.

We will show you how to record a video easily using Camera, an application that is bundled with Windows 10. You'll find it in the Start menu. Open it, and select the video recording option from the icons on the right side of the window, shown here:.

If your computer has both a front-facing and rear facing camera, like the Surface Pro and Book models, you may need to click the selector icon in the top-right corner to switch to the right camera.

If you are reading your auditon piece from a script on screen, you may want to position it near the camera, so you appear to be facing the viewer.

When you are ready to record, press the video record button (the same button that indicates video mode).

While recording, the video record button turns into a big red stop button. Click this when you are done recording.

Your video is saved into the Photos app. If you open Photos and find your video, you can find the file by right-clicking the video and choosing Open in File Explorer or Open Folder, depending on where you are.
