Audition Notice
Hate Mail

As theater-makers, we hold ourselves accountable to practices that will ensure that Pegasus Theatre is an inclusive, diverse, equitable, and actively anti-racist organization, both on-stage and off. Moving forward, you will see the same diversity on the audition team that we hope to see on-stage. We will charge our directors to be “diversity conscious” in their casting. With the help of our Diversity Advocate, we will strive to make the audition room a safe space for all, regardless of age, race, color, gender identity, disability, religion, veteran status, national origin, or sexual orientation. Non-Union Auditions for Hate Mail, a comedy by Bill Corbett and Kira Obolensky. David Meglino will direct the production. Audition times are Saturday (09/10/22) 1 – 3 pm and Sunday (09/11/22) 5 – 7pm.

Auditions for Hate Mail will be conducted in person at the First United Lutheran Church in Dallas at 6202 E. Mockingbird Ln.

PLEASE NOTE: You will be asked to provide your COVID Vaccination card or equivalent documentation at the door. Facemasks will be required except during your audition. We will have facemasks available if you need one.

Pegasus Theatre will be using a fully vaccinated cast, crew, and production team for this production. If you haven’t been vaccinated we will not be able to see you.

Auditions will consist of readings from the script. Audition sides will be emailed to you after you sign up. A reader(s) will be provided.

Rehearsals will be in person. Performances will be in person.

Rehearsals begin September 20.

Performance dates are October 20 through November 5 at the Bath House Cultural Center in White Rock Lake Park.

All roles are paid positions.

The Story:

When Preston writes a furious letter to a store demanding a refund for a broken snow globe, he gets Assistant Manager Dahlia fired—and finds a vengeful epistolary match. In this wickedly funny alternative to “Love Letters”, the two embark on an epic, often acrimonious, correspondence as their lives intertwine.

AVAILABLE ROLES:

Preston.......... Any ethnicity. 20 to 40. Male. A spoiled rich kid used to getting what he wants.

Dahlia............. Any ethnicity. 20 to 40. Female. An angst-filled artist.
