SHERWOOD: THE ADVENTURES OF ROBIN HOOD

DESCRIPTION: Packed with thrills, romance, laughter, and immortal characters like Little John, Friar Tuck, and Maid Marian, Sherwood: The Adventures of Robin Hood tells the enduring story of a hero of the people who takes on the ruthless powers that be. So get ready to duck a quarterstaff or two – you won’t want to miss a moment of the swashbuckling fun!

PERFORMS: Weekends June 9 to July 2 and a PWYC night on Monday, June 19

AUDITIONS: Monday, March 13 and Tuesday, March 14 from 7 to 9pm (Doors open at 6pm)

AUDITION FORMAT: Prepare a memorized 1-2 minute comedic monologue. ‘

CALLBACKS: Wednesday, March 15 at 7pm. Callbacks will be readings from the script and movement direction.

INTIMACY NOTICE: Theatre in the Round Players has a qualified team of intimacy directors to work with the cast. The actors playing Robin, Marian, Deorwynn, Little John, and one ensemble member will work with the IDs to play within the actors' boundaries. Role breakdown includes a brief outline of the expected intimacy; if interested, please reach out to enquire on the details of the expected action. No nudity or simulated sex acts will take place in the production, and no intimate acts will be required in auditions or callbacks.

CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS

Except as noted, roles are open to actors of all identities – racial, ethnic, sexual, gender – and no roles assume the presence or absence of disability.

British accent required.

Previous stage combat experience is a plus.

ROBIN HOOD: Male, mid 20s-mid 30s; physically athletic; a charming rascal; a lovable leader; genuine and with an infectious energy. Significant stage combat. Intimacy includes wanted kissing and embracing of two other characters.

MAID MARIAN: Female, mid 20s-mid 30s; not a damsel in distress; physically, mentally and emotionally strong. Significant stage combat. Intimacy includes wanted kissing and embracing.

FRIAR TUCK: Gender Fluid, 30 or older; a storyteller; tough-as-shoe-leather; a person of conviction and wit. Moderate stage combat.

LITTLE JOHN: Male, 30 to mid-40s; physically large; loyal; earnest. Moderate stage combat. Intimacy includes wanted kissing.

DOERWYNN: Female, 20s-early 30s; spunky; passionate; high-energy. Minor stage combat. Intimacy includes wanted kissing.

PRINCE JOHN: Male, 40-50; self-absorbed, calculating politician; slimy; smarmy; ruthless; pretentious. Minor stage combat.

THE SHERIFF OF NOTTINGHAM: Gender Fluid, 30-50; dim-witted follower of Sir Guy; a bumbler; a sidekick. Significant stage combat.

SIR GUY OF GISBOURNE: Male, 30-40; dangerous; short-tempered; oozes unpleasantness. Significant stage combat.

ENSEMBLE ROLES: Numerous roles, with the potential for actors to play multiple characters. Ensemble cast members may also be offered understudy roles. All ensemble roles include minor to significant stage combat. One ensemble role includes wanted kissing and embracing.
